2) Information We Collect
We collect limited information to operate the Services, provide analytics, and support your interactions with Pattern Nexus.
- Information you provide directly:
- Email address if you subscribe to the newsletter or create an account;
- Email address and message content if you contact us directly;
- Login credentials (password) if you create a site account.
- Account & authentication data:
- If you sign up or log in using Google or Facebook, those providers may share basic account information with us (such as your email address and, in some cases, a display name). We primarily store and use your email and authentication token to operate your account.
- Comments and user-generated content:
- When comments or other user submissions are enabled, we collect the content you post (e.g., text comments) along with associated metadata (such as the time of posting and your IP address at the time of submission, for spam and abuse prevention).
- Automatic data (logs & technical data):
- IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring/exit pages, timestamps, and general region (derived from IP);
- Pages viewed, time on page, scroll and click behavior, and similar usage information;
- These may be stored in server logs, Cloudflare logs, and analytics tools (such as Google Analytics 4).
- Cookies, tags, and similar technologies:
- Necessary cookies for core site functionality, security, and login;
- Analytics cookies and tags (e.g., Google Analytics 4) to understand aggregated usage and performance;
- Advertising cookies and identifiers from Google AdSense for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention;
- Our own JavaScript-based view-count and page-view scripts, which track visits and engagement within the Pattern Nexus site.
Details are provided in our Cookie Policy.
3) How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and secure the Services (including through Cloudflare and related security tools);
- Provide and manage user accounts, including authentication via email, Google, or Facebook;
- Send newsletters or email updates when you opt in (you can unsubscribe anytime);
- Respond to your requests, comments, or questions;
- Measure traffic, engagement, and performance using analytics (e.g., Google Analytics 4 and our own view-count scripts);
- Display and measure advertising through Google AdSense;
- Detect, prevent, and address spam, abuse, fraud, and security incidents;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and other policies.
4) Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK where applicable)
Where data protection laws in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom apply, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests: operating the site, ensuring security, preventing abuse, and performing basic audience measurement;
- Consent: placing or reading non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising), sending newsletters or marketing emails, and honoring your preferences through our cookie tools;
- Legal obligation: complying with applicable laws, responding to lawful requests, and maintaining records as required by law.
5) Cookies, Analytics & Advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies for functionality, analytics, and advertising:
- Essential cookies: necessary for login, security, load balancing, and basic site operation;
- Analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics 4): to understand how visitors use the Services and to improve content and performance. These may collect IP addresses (with IP anonymization options) and usage information;
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense): to deliver, measure, and improve ads, prevent fraud, and provide non-personalized or personalized ads depending on your consent and regional settings;
- Affiliate links: when you click an affiliate link (for example, to TradingView or Kiavi), those third parties may use their own cookies and tracking technologies to attribute referrals and measure conversions.
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time via Cookie Preferences (when available) and through your browser settings. For more detail on the cookies we use and your options, see the Cookie Policy.
Where technically feasible, we aim to respect supported privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) and similar mechanisms in accordance with applicable law.
6) How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers: with vendors who help us operate the Services, such as:
- hosting and infrastructure providers;
- Cloudflare (security, content delivery, and traffic routing);
- analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics 4);
- email and newsletter service providers.
These providers are bound by contracts that limit their use of your data to providing services to us.
- Advertising and measurement: with Google AdSense and related Google advertising services to display and measure ads. Google may use cookies and other identifiers in accordance with its own policies.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or when needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of Pattern Nexus, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or other business transaction, information may be transferred as part of that process, subject to this Privacy Policy.
We do not share your email address with affiliate partners for their own marketing purposes.
7) Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and to comply with legal obligations. Typical retention periods include:
- Contact emails and support correspondence: up to 24 months after last interaction, unless longer retention is required for legal reasons;
- Newsletter subscription records: retained while you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period after you unsubscribe, to maintain suppression lists and records of consent;
- Account data: retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after account closure, unless deletion is requested and permitted;
- Analytics data (e.g., Google Analytics 4): typically 14–26 months, subject to settings in the analytics tools;
- Consent logs: at least 24 months, or longer as required by law.
Additional details may be provided in our Data Retention page.
8) Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, limited access controls, and the use of security services such as Cloudflare.
No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe you have discovered a security issue, please contact us at [email protected]. Additional information may be provided on our Data Retention & Security Policy page.
9) Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
10) International Data Transfers
The Services are operated in the United States, and your information may be processed and stored there or in other countries where our service providers are located. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards (such as contractual protections) for international transfers.
